Parents and their students can participate in our virtual zoom - in a meeting to talk about their advance planning and their contribution to the community. Maryam Syed enjoys biology because she has been interested from day one and changed her career path as a teacher. She attended the Medical Academy and Police Academy and worked at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and Illinois State University in Chicago.
She loves the theater, has volunteered over 500 hours at HHS and at the theater, and has also worked with the Dream Riders peer jury. She is busy at Tomas Market and also helps with Heritage Woods and a variety of other community projects in the area, such as food stalls, community events and community service.
Sammy has spent most of her volunteer hours in her final class, which includes some students from her high school and other high schools in the area. She has the same job and works at the Alden nursing home, where she has been working for two years, averaging 32 hours a week.
She has been on the NHS Yearbook and Speech Team, been in GEMS (Girls in Engineering), been to IHSA (IL State) and is secretary of the Future Business Leaders of America. She attended the Medical Academy for her youth residency in NW Huntley and earned her bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and her master's degree in broadcast from Illinois State University. During her first year, she participated in journalistic broadcasts at the News & World Report College of Journalism and Mass Communications in the United States and was a finalist for the Illinois Public Radio Journalism Award. In her sophomore year in high school, she participated as a member of her school's acting and dance teams, participated in a local theater production of "The Lion King," attended a national theater festival in Chicago and the annual concert of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
She plans to become a pediatric nurse and begin her studies at Carroll University in Waukesha, WI, in the fall. Hadley will attend Wisconsin Lutheran College in Milwaukee to learn how to treat and prevent disease. Heather Strait is trained as a certified Vision Itinerate teacher at McHenry County College to ensure that children can reach their full potential in their school environment. Samantha Martel will study at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign's College of Medicine and Dentistry and Illinois State University Medical Center in Springfield, IL, in hopes of becoming a doctor or surgeon.
Huntley is governed by Huntley's elected village president, an Illinois State Board of Education member and village board member.
Main Street is led by Main Street, and the neighboring community includes the Huntley Community Center, a public library, and a number of restaurants, bars and shops.
Algonquin Road is a four-lane, divided highway that connects Huntley with the city of Chicago and the state of Illinois, and Lake County, Illinois.
Reed Kreutzer is the local East-West street, while Haligus and Ruth Church are the local North-South street. Other major streets in the village are Main Street, North Avenue, South Avenue and West Avenue.
The bustling Randall Road Corridor has many of the local restaurants, bars and bars, as well as a number of restaurants and shops. It is a convenient drive from downtown Chicago and its location makes it a great destination for local restaurants and bars.
Huntley is a great place to live and visit, with plenty of activities for the whole family, such as visiting Tom's Farm Market for seasonal treats. In addition, there is a tennis court that includes eight illuminated courts, including stadium-style courts. An indoor pool offers residents the opportunity to keep fit by swimming laps and taking part in the many aqua-gymnastics courses.
